
We invite industry stakeholders to apply to the “Innovation PitchFest: Technology Providers Shaping Grid Resiliency” at the second annual WIRED Grid Resilience Symposium, taking place on August 8 at the University of Calgary, AB. Accepted participants will showcase their technologies in a lightning-round pitch session to an audience comprising major industry players, including AESO, FortisAlberta, Enmax, AltaLink, Hydro Quebec, ATCO, and WECC, along with academic researchers, policymakers, and other industry professionals.
Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to showcase a poster of their work during the evening reception.
Technology Focus Areas: Proposals must align with one or more of the following focus areas:
· Extreme Weather: The growing risks from wildfires, heatwaves, and cold snaps that threaten electricity systems.
· Cyberattacks: Escalating threats of cyber intrusions targeting electricity systems.
· Gas and Water Infrastructure Vulnerabilities: The interdependencies between electricity, gas, and water systems and their collective resilience.
· Data Integrity and Availability: The security and accessibility of critical operational data for grid resilience.
· Large Electricity Loads: The increasing power demands from AI, cloud computing, and industrial expansion and the impact on grid resilience.
· Supply Chain and Workforce Resilience: Vulnerabilities in the electricity sector’s supply chain and the growing challenges in maintaining a skilled workforce due to retirement trends and evolving industry demands.
The Innovation Pitchfest will be evaluated by experienced industry leaders and seasoned serial entrepreneurs, as well as the audience. The winner selected by the judges will receive a complimentary Gold Sponsorship package for the 2026 WIRED Symposium; the winner selected by the audience will receive a free Industry/Career Expo Package.
